There’s something special that happens when a child gets a new book that is their very own. When our children are learning to read, we want them to have books that are accessible, engaging, and helpful in learning the important life lessons that they will need as they grow up. But what if you couldn’t afford to buy that sort of book for your child? How much would it mean to you, especially in these tough economic times, if an individual or business provided a quality children’s book for your family, signed by the author and the illustrator?
You can reach out to your community today by donating a Murry Murray book to a child through Children’s Speech & Reading Center, a local non-profit that works with children with communication disorders. These acclaimed social stories starring Murry the dog will be specially signed by the author and the illustrator (Coloradoans Barbara Murray and Sam Salas), with the name of the donor inside, and then distributed at special readings for children in need at Children’s Speech & Reading Center, United Day Care Centers in Loveland and Fort Collins, and Thompson Valley Preschool in Loveland. Half of each sale will cover the cost of production, and the other half will go to support Children’s Speech & Reading Center in their mission to provide affordable, accredited speech-language therapy services to Northern Colorado families, regardless of their ability to pay.
Books must be purchased by September 4 in order to be distributed at each location. Each book is $17.58 (including paypal fee) and can be purchased through the "Add to Cart" button below. (So you can provide books for three children for only about $50!) $16.95 of each book purchase is tax-deductible (total purchase less 0.63 paypal fee). If you would prefer to write a check, please call CSRC at (970)419-0486. For further information on Murry the dog and his adventures, please visit him on the web at murrymurray.com.)
